Protein-Lipid Nanostructures: From Domains to Devices

EBSA 2019 Satellite Meeting

July 25-27, 2019 / Bilbao, Spain

About

The ability of protein and lipids to self-assemble into functional nanostructures is fundamental for cellular life. Small, transitory proteo-lipid complexes are at the crossroads of metabolic and signaling pathways in the cell, they emerge to mediate membrane remodeling, control signal transduction, create transport carriers and more. Their capacity to respond to chemical and physical stimuli at a single molecule level has inspired various technological applications, including molecular sensing and nanopore sequencing. This workshop intends to explore the multifaceted nature of proteo-lipid nanostructures, from fundamental mechanisms of their self-assembly through intracellular functions to technological applications.

ProLiN2019 programme

Proceedings

Abstracts selected for presentation at ProLin2019 can be published in the issue of the European Biophysics Journal (EBJ) dedicated to the joint 12th EBSA and 10th ICBP- IUPAP Congress. Please see below for instructions.

In addition, authors presenting at ProLiN2019 are invited to submit an article, either full-length manuscript, Biophysics Letter or review paper, for consideration for publication in a Special Issue of the European Biophysics Journal (EBJ) guest edited by Vadim Frolov. EBJ is the EBSA journal and provides 95% of EBSA’s funding. All contributions to the special issue will undergo external review as is normal for EBJ. Submission deadline will be December 1st, 2019. The issue will be open for submission starting from May 21st, 2019 through the the EBJ Editorial Manager website https://www.editorialmanager.com/ebjo/default.aspx. When making a submission, please choose “S.I. : Proteo-Lipid Nanostructures 2019” as Article Type in the article type menu.

Selection criteria

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee for relevance, scientific excellence as well as for novelty and diversity of the approaches, with a strong preference for the incorporation of bits of non-published material. The best abstracts presented by student/postdoc applicants will be considered for short oral presentations.

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject low-quality abstracts, as well as abstracts and registrations not pertinent to the theme of the meeting.

All presenting authors (for oral or poster presentation) will be notified via email by May 3, 2019Authors wishing to publish their abstract in the EBJ issue dedicated to the12th EBSA and 10th ICBP- IUPAP Congress will be notified of abstract acceptance by April 20, 2019.

Late abstract submission will be opened until May 15, 2019, for poster format submissions only. Authors submitting a late abstract will be notified of acceptance by May 18, 2019.

Abstract guidelines

The abstract should not exceed 350 words (1300 characters aprox.). Submission will be online via the abstract submission system. Those authors wishing to publish their abstract in the EBJ issue dedicated to the12th EBSA and 10th ICBP- IUPAP Congress will be asked to upload a Word file containing the abstract following the specifications detailed in the submission system.

Poster specifications

Maximum poster size is 150 cm (height) x 94 cm (width), in a portrait format. Fixing material will be provided. Information on an individual poster session is now available in the programme of the meeting.

Travel awards
